Guiding at the Trophier is headed by Yoshi Nakagawa, the 2010 New Zealand Fly Fishing Champion and co-owner of Auckland’s Rod and Reel store.
Yoshi has spent 8 years perfecting both traditional and cutting edge techniques suitable for catching New Zealand’s famously crafty trout. He has extensive knowledge of North Island fisheries and has led many clients to trophy fish.
Yoshi is also a Umpqua qualified fly tying instructor and can provide lessons at the lodge. His effective flies have been highly recognized in New Zealand and recently published in “New Zealand’s Best Trout Flies”
If multiple guides are required, members of the New Zealand National Team are available.
If required, quality fishing tackle can be delivered directly to the lodge. These includes Sage Rods and Simms fishing products.
